Becky Sander-Cederlof Dollhouse

It took about 3 months (spread over a three year period) to finish the house and another month to decorate it.

This is the second house I have built. I painted it blue-my favorite color. The stairway is a replica of our real stairs. The floors are hardwood in most rooms, white tile in the bath, and gray flagstone in the kitchen. Just like my real house! The curtains are all lace on real brass curtain rods.

Every piece of the house had to be painted first and then put together. The wiring is a tape, flat wire system that is hidden under the wall paper. All of the lamps have little plugs they plug into. The ceiling and wall fixtures are wired to the tape. The doors have stained glass inserts.

I have placed lots of plants inside and outside of the house. I love flowers. There are about 14 birds perching all around the house.

The conservatory on the right was an add on. There is a pair of binoculars on the table with a bird watching book. On the left side (on the roof) is a very casual area with a Van Gogh painting, “The Starry Night”. “Art” (the mannequin) is standing by the bench looking at the painting.

I did not glue the tower down (the structure above the bathroom). I used cloud wallpaper on the inside and made a circular lace curtain in the round window. I have placed a battery powered tea light candle to light this little room.

Some of the rugs I crocheted, some are book marks, mouse pads, coasters and some made just for dollhouses. — Becky Sander-Cederlof
